Metabolic Clinics

Dr. Peter Robinson runs the Metabolic Clinic at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children and Maternal Clinic at the Queen Mother’s Hospital.

Dr. Peter Galloway runs an Adult Metabolic Clinic at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Where appropriate, specialists follow up different metabolic disorders, eg Dr Jim Beattie, Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist, looks after children with Cystinosis.

General Description

The Department offers a wide range of diagnostic tests to detect and monitor abnormal metabolites and enzymes levels in children and adults. Where they are required urgently, the Department should be contacted directly and issues discussed. Consultant advice is always available.

A clinical guide to appropriate investigations is available giving sample types and details of pre-analytical handling at www.show.scot.nhs.uk/yorkhill
