The Clinical Laboratories in Hairmyres Hospital comprise departments of Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology and Histopathology: They are co-located on the second floor of the main hospital building.

Hairmyres Hospital is one of three Acute Hospitals in Lanarkshire. The Hospitals are directed by the Board of NHS Lanarkshire, which is the statutory Body responsible for the provision of Healthcare to the population of Lanarkshire (563,000).

Hairmyres Hospital provides a range of medical, surgical and accident and emergency services to its local catchment area of around 250,000 people and provides Thoracic and Cardiac Catheterisation services for all of Lanarkshire.

The Clinical Laboratories provide a comprehensive consultative, analytical and interpretive service to Hairmyres Hospital, to hospitals in the community, to Health Centers and General Practitioners in the area and to the local Occupational Health Service.
